The underground system in London is amazing! We found our connection to the Channel Tunnel immediately and off we went. London has been a refreshing experience, particularly for the politeness of the people. As soon as we got on the underground, a couple of younger people got up and gave us their seats. It pays to get old!
The arcade (Brit for mall) at the Chunnel station is amazing, with every possible store and restaurant. We settled in beside a couple of delightful young women who were very excited to be going to Paris for their first time, and enjoyed sharing travelling stories with them. The train came along shortly, and we settled into very comfortable seats. Even though this was regular class, the seats were large and roomy, and we had a little table in front of us to put our drinks and snacks. Both the trip through the outskirts of London, and the French countryside were interesting. We moved along at 300 kmh, and the trip went by very quickly.
Coming out of the train station, there was a very orderly queue for the taxi, and we were soon on our way to our hotel. We are in a great location, just a few minutes walk from the Eiffel Tower, so after unpacking, we were on our way.
We enjoyed an amazing French dinner, and then went back for an evening stroll along the Seine, and a look at the tower all dressed up in lights.
Ah, Parie, how beautiful you are! This is love for sure!
