Paris Day Four

It is impossible to put into the words the way that the Palace of Versailles strikes you as you walk up to the gate. Real gold adorns everything, the palace is massive, and the sheer beauty of the place is breathtaking.

The palace is built in a U shape, with a wing off the top of each. The palace is very easy to get to from Paris, taking a 20 minute train ride that took us right to the charming city of Versailles. From the train, it is a short 10 minute walk to the palace gates, and another 5 minutes to the palace entrance.

Each room that we entered was more beautiful than the one before, with amazing architecture,

views of palatial gardens,

marble and bronze statues, (love the guy in the green shirt!),

unbelievable ceiling friezes and magnificent art!

We saw both Louis XIV and Marie Antoinette's bedchambers; absolutely beautiful!

We were simply too tired to explore the acres and acres of gardens, so we walked into the town for lunch. This is a quaint city, with narrow streets and lots of sidewalk cafes.

After a nice relaxing lunch, we headed back on the train and enjoyed the late afternoon shopping for souvenirs.
